I wanted to do 2 sunsets while in Yosemite but the sun was setting in the wrong place to really light up the rock as I wanted. We spent a while here at Valley View (Gates of the Valley) but there was just no color in the sky. Earlier in the sunset the rock lit up on the right, and I could see the rocks nice and red/orange to my right, but El Capitan stayed shadowed and boring.
I think the most interesting part of the shoot was that there were 2 guys there doing 3D time-lapse photos. They had this contraption that placed one camera normally, and one facing the ground, with a mirror in the box that reflected the image right-side up. The contraption had the 2 cameras take photos at the same time, one camera being the left eye and one being the right eye, and would later be converted into a 3D movie. The sunset was boring but hopefully they can come up with something neat.
